About Us

I'm Dave, husband of Bertie and father of our 5 beautiful daughters. Originally from Cornwall or Kernow (in the Cornish lanauge), I met my wife Bertie while at Duchy college.  
I served 8 years in the British army and as our family grew I changed career paths and retrained in Arboriculture after a suggestion from Bertie to give it a try. I fell in love with all thing trees, and a really love working in the canopy.

I developed an interest in fruit tree pruning after retaining in arboriculture and soon started to learn more about the dark art of fruit tree pruning. I now enjoy sharing my knowledge with others and helping people on their road to growing their own fruit.

I'm Bertie and I love all things garden, especially edible gardens! I love to be outside sowing seeds, planting, harvesting and planning the next round of plants and trees to add to the growing collection! Passionate about helping others enjoy a year round garden filled with dense veggies, flowers, trees and herbs! 

  I started gardening in my teens in an organic garden in Devon, UK, and have worked in many different gardens since. I value different approaches and will draw on many different concepts and styles. I believe that there is not one fit for gardening. Each garden is different, and each person will need different requirements and visions, therefore my approach is relaxed, informative, and productive. I have recently completed a gut health course, Garden Coaching Course, and the Permaculture Design Course. I'm now studying short courses on Soil Science & Health, Nutrients, Natural Garden Design, Certificate in Self-sufficiency and will be starting a longer course on Syntropic Agroforestry early this year. Always learning and love to share my knowledge!

From time to time you will find one or more of our children helping out. It is a family business and we value hard work. Plus, as we homeschool our 10 year old, Harriet, she is gaining valuable life skills by coming to work with us! 

Our youngest Autumn, will come with us sometimes, but she is happy bumbling around and exploring or sleeping in the pushchair. 

We have Sophie, age 14, and loves her phone, friends, watching Modern Family, baking, and listening to music.

Harriet, age 12, and loves animals of any kind, drawing, ballet, baking up a storm and boxing.

Izzy, age 8, loves playing with her friends, audiobooks, going to the park and eating ice cream!

Elowen, age 4, loves Spiderman and The Wiggles, enjoys pre-school, and loves to paint and bake!

Autumn, age 3, loves to run everywhere...usually away from us! loves water, playing outside and music!
